Prostitution is a business where there are many risks of danger from abuse to being arrested. In criminalized countries, most of the prostitutes are trafficked. 50,0000 women and children are brought into the US by traffickers each year. Sex workers are more susceptible to rape and many other forms of violence as well. Conditions of the job are horrible as well. There is no overtime pay, health insurance, sick leave, usually without recourse against abuses, sex without a condom, and many are forced to turn tricks to work off crushing debts. Prostitutes are assaulted by customers, pimps, and partners on a regular basis. Many have been forced or coerced into sex trafficking by abusers. Abuse is so common because most prostitutes fear the police because they are illegal themselves.
